But they still "exist", and they still function if you know how*get and set are accessors, meaning theyre able to access data and info in private fields (usually from a backing field) and usually do so from public properties (as you can see in~Here the get method finds a key entry for e and finds its value which is 1. We add this to the other 1 in characters.get (character, 0) + 1 and get 2 as result.
